World Record!!! ...for a day

1' 56'' 47
This is the new world record. Federica Pellegrini broke the previews record (set by Franziska Van Almsick) today in the women's 200m Freestyle semi-final at the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Australia. In 2004, for the Olympic Games at Athens I said the girl was going to do it, some answered me that she just arrived second.
Tomorrow, Wednesday March 28th 2007 at 11.00 CEST I'll be glued to the screen, yes, cos this result comes from the semi-final so tomorrow it will be the extra mile for Federica.

UPDATE 01: A day has passed and that extra mile got steeper and steeper for Federica. At the final her time is: 1'56''97, a little worse than yesterday but only worth a bronze medal. The end got even more bitter since the winner, French swimmer Laure Manaudou, set the new world record: 1'55''52. But the avalanche does not end here, in fact the second one, German swimmer Annika Lurz 1'55''68, just set the second best time. It's good to break the world record, but rather sad to see it broken by two other best in just 24 hours.
Beijing 2008 is waiting for you Federica!
