America Alone

April the 16th I made up my mind. I ordered "America Alone" the new, spectacular book by Mark Steyn, and I did through his online store. I reached the half of the book in two days and I can say that it is probably the best essay I've read in the last 10 years at least.
I sincerely recomment it!

Italianità

A tutto c'è un limite.
In questi giorni mi sto seriamente domandando quanto guano si può effettivamente dar da mangiare agli Italiani o anche agli Spagnoli prima di arrivare al punto in cui la gente si accorga che sta pasteggiando a stronzate.
Per accorgersi di quello che sto dicendo basta leggere le pagine di uno di quei giornaletti che ti regalano per la strada. Il loro livello di viscidume è tale da arrivare a farmi ipotizzare la "propaganda".
Se illustri personaggi come Von Mises, Rand, Von Hayek, Smith, Berlin (purtroppo totalmente sconosciuti ai più perché i libri di scuola e filosofia tutt'ora in uso nelle scuole solo parlano dei deficienti che la storia l'hanno fatta dando a bere montagne di letame ad altri dementi: Marx, Russeau, More, Chomsky, Engels, ...; invece di parlare di quelli che ci avevano visto giusto) parlano inascoltati di laissez-faire in economia, definendo più o meno direttamente il capitalismo, quanto potranno andare avanti i nostri Mortadella, Bambi e chi più ne ha più ne metta nello spingere esattamente verso un sistema economico sempre più controllato dallo Stato? Ogni generazione sembra subire lo stesso fascino perverso di idee mercantiliste e stataliste. Ma arrivare a miscelare tutto ciò, ad associarlo a doppio filo con l'identità nazionale è perverso.
La sottile ironia la lascio a Christian Rocca:

L'italianità
Qualcuno provi a usare un normalissimo conto corrente di una qualsiasi banca americana, poi provi ancora a ripetere la frase "mantenere l'italianità delle nostre banche".

Se non avete capito la stoccata di Rocca allora non sapete quasi nulla sul'economia italiana. E parlo di semplice paragone fra un CC italiano e uno Americano.

Many of you might ask: why would I need to change my DNS addresses (the primary and the secondary)? It's indeed a plausible and respectful question. Let's see why.
The vast majority of the Internet users surf the web without even knowing what a DNS Server is, why the browser needs to contact them in the background each and every time you try to access a website and they don't even know, once connected, that their ISP actually already proposed a couple of DNS Servers.
So, since apparently this seems like a forgettable piece of technical information, why would we bother changing them? The answer is SECURITY.

The solution is called OpenDNS.





We might discuss a lot about its amazing features but in reality you just need to change your DNS Servers with the OpenDNS ones.

Human Wrongs

In this blog I'm supposed to do more than just report a good post done by somebody else, but the shock is such that I can't say much more.
It all started with this article by Christian Rocca, this post by Enzo Reale and this one by Daw.
If ignorance and absolute relativism can lead the world to this then we are responsible for being ignorant and stupid. We are, each and one of us.

Keep an eye on UN Watch, seems like one of the very few NGO that are worth listening to.

UNDATE 01: In the meantime the nightmare at the UNO does not end here, yes cos apparently they did find and end to the absolute relativism, but on the wrong side of the hill. The same very Council pushed a resolution to prohibit, among other delicious things, the publication of comics that might be offensive to Islam.
